APAP member countries renew commitment to Global Biodiversity Framework
The Asia Protected Area Partnership (APAP) renewed its commitment to the GBF at a recent gathering held in Dehradun, India. Urgent actions needed to realign the member countries’ National Biodiversity Strategies and Actions Plans (NBSAPs) in line with GBF, as well as issues including the role of PCAs in promoting Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and climate change mitigation, were among the topics discussed. Youth Conservation: celebrating World Environment day in Goma, DRC
On 5 June, the Gorilla Ambassadors Programme (GAP) celebrated World Environment Day with the local scouts, with the joint focus of raising awareness on the effects of plastic pollution and introducing PAPACO’s new platform: youth-conservation.org. The Gorilla Ambassadors Program has been actively promoting the new platform locally, with the aim of fostering environmental awareness and leadership from young people.

IUCN Expert Assessment Group of the Green List (EAGL) for the Democratic Republic of Congo (RDC) announced
Drawn from a pool of extremely qualified applicants, 11 individuals representing the voices of key DRC conservation and governance stakeholders from a diverse array of sectors including ecology, sociology, protected areas, conservation and biodiversity management, scientists and non-governmental organizations, constitute the DRC’s new EAGL.
IUCN Green List Training for Lao PDR Protected Area Managers
30 personnel from two sites were introduced to the IUCN Green List Standard, User Manual rules and procedures, and the IUCN Green List COMPASS online platform at a recent training held at the Nakai Nam Theun National Park office in Lao PDR.
