Join The Alana Foundation and the UCLA School of Education & Information Studies, in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s Commission on Education and Communication, EARTHDAY.ORG and #NatureForAll, for the 1st Nature-Based Education Summit in Los Angeles.
We are happy to announce the speakers joining this transformative event to reimagine education’s boundaries by integrating nature at the heart of learning and play.
The agenda includes Richard Louv, author of the Bestseller “Last Child in the Woods: Saving our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder,” Pediatrician and Child Advocate Dannette Glassy, representing the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a Keynote speech from Dune Lankard, president of Native Conservancy, and Indigenous leader from Alaska and a key person in the Children’s Trust challenge to a law promoting fossil fuel development infringes on the constitutional rights of young residents to a healthy environment.
They round out an incredible lineup of educators, children’s rights advocates, and grassroots leaders who will offer insights and actionable advice on Nature-based Education, an inclusive ecosystem of approaches that brings nature into the core of play, learning, and resilience. About the 1st Nature-Based Education Summit
Hosted by The Alana Foundation and the UCLA School of Education & Information Studies, in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)’s Commission on Education and Communication, Earthday.org and #NatureForAll, the 1st Nature-Based Education Summit will gather educators, designers, policymakers and changemakers to showcase research and inspiring cases to strengthen the connection between kids and nature, improve academic achievement, support physical and mental health for people of all ages, enhance climate resiliency in communities, and lead to care for the Earth. Perspectives from the Global North and Global South will be included.
Join us at the scenic UCLA Lab School, a pioneering campus designed by the renowned architects Richard Neutra and Robert Alexander to create a learning environment that allows students to play and learn in, and from, nature.
