International Rivers works to protect transboundary and vulnerable rivers, particularly in the Global South. Our work centers on preserving the few remaining free-flowing rivers while protecting already dammed rivers from additional destructive infrastructure projects. We prioritize the rights of Indigenous Peoples and local communities, supporting their self-determination through campaigns, investigative research, and collaboration with civil society networks. Our approach includes advocating for policychanges informed by grassroots realities, resisting destructive projects, and championing solutions that meet energy needs without compromising nature or human rights.
