San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance

San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance is an international, nonprofit conservation organization headquartered in San Diego, California. The Alliance operates the San Diego Zoo (in Balboa Park) and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park (in Escondido), and is one of the largest zoological organizations in the world, welcoming millions of visitors each year and home to more than 12,000 animals representing over 700 species.

The Alliance was formed by the unification of the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Safari Park under a single wildlife-conservation mission. The organization is built around three integrated commitments: saving species from extinction through on-the-ground conservation programs, recovering populations of imperiled wildlife (including work on the western burrowing owl, California condor, Pacific pocket mouse, and dozens of other native and international species), and inspiring a passion for nature in the next generation of conservationists. The Alliance runs a major conservation program in more than 30 countries, a wildlife care center and native-species recovery program in Southern California, and a portfolio of adventure-travel expeditions that directly fund conservation work.
