Wildlife Alliance is an international non-profit organization that works to conserve wildlife and their habitats in Southeast Asia. Founded in 1995, Wildlife Alliance has programs in Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, and Ecuador.

One of Wildlife Alliance’s key programs is the Wildlife Rapid Rescue Team (WRRT), which works to crack down on the illegal wildlife trade in Cambodia. The WRRT has rescued thousands of animals from traffickers, including pangolins, turtles, and crocodiles.

Wildlife Alliance also works to protect wildlife habitats. The organization has helped to establish and manage several protected areas in Cambodia, including the Cardamom Mountains National Park and the Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area.

IUCN, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, is a global organization that works to conserve the world’s natural resources. IUCN is the world’s largest environmental organization, with over 1,400 member organizations from around the world.

Wildlife Alliance is an active member of IUCN. The organization is a member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC), which is responsible for assessing the conservation status of species around the world. Wildlife Alliance also partners with IUCN on a number of conservation projects, including the WRRT and the protection of the Cardamom Mountains National Park.

The relationship between Wildlife Alliance and IUCN is mutually beneficial. Wildlife Alliance benefits from IUCN’s scientific expertise and global reach, while IUCN benefits from Wildlife Alliance’s on-the-ground experience in Southeast Asia. Together, Wildlife Alliance and IUCN are working to conserve some of the world’s most threatened wildlife and habitats.

Here are some specific examples of how Wildlife Alliance and IUCN are working together:

  • Wildlife Alliance is a member of the IUCN SSC Wildlife Health Specialist Group, which provides scientific advice on the health of wild animals.
  • Wildlife Alliance works with IUCN to implement the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, which assesses the conservation status of species around the world.
  • Wildlife Alliance is a partner in the IUCN’s Green List of Protected Areas, which recognizes protected areas that meet high standards of conservation management.

Through their collaboration, Wildlife Alliance and IUCN are making a significant contribution to the conservation of wildlife and their habitats around the world.
