Applications Open for 2025 Wolfgang Kiessling International Prize for Species Conservation

As the threat of species extinction becomes all the more prevalent in our world, the Global Humane Society’s Wolfgang Kiessling International Prize for Species Conservation honors a conservation scientist providing innovative strategies for a sustainable future through theory, research, and/or practice.

The Kiessling Prize includes an awards ceremony for the recipient and an $80,000 (USD) grant towards further conservation research and action.

The award honors Wolfgang F. Kiessling, the founder of Loro Parque and Loro Parque Foundation, for over 50 years of work to prevent species extinction.

Last year’s recipient, Dr. Arnaud Desbiez, was celebrated for his groundbreaking giant armadillo conservation across Brazil through the Wild Animal Conservation Institute (ICAS) of which he is the founder and President. Other winners include Dr. Jon Paul Rodriguez and Professor Theo Pagel.
