The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation has awarded the Antarctic and Southern Ocean Coalition (ASOC) the 2025 Gulbenkian Prize for Humanity in recognition of their work protecting one of the planet’s most vital and vulnerable ecosystems. The Jury selected ASOC out of 212 nominations from 115 countries. According to ASOC Executive Director Claire Christian, the prize affirms the power of international cooperation and the importance of preserving the Antarctic and Southern Ocean regions.
